Ingredients for making creamy condensed cut milk cocada:

 2 medium grated coconuts

 1 can of condensed milk

1 cup of milk (240 milliliters)

1 cup of water (240 milliliters)

3 cups of sugar (480 grams)

1 tablespoon of butter (to grease)

How to make creamy condensed cut milk candy:

Grate the coconuts and put the sugar to melt over medium-low heat without adding water or stirring. Leave until golden or darker, if you prefer a black coconut.

Tip: the color of the melted sugar will be the color of your coconut candy! Do not stir the sugar to prevent it from crystallizing, at most just tilt the pan so that the sugar melts evenly.

Add the coconut to the melted sugar and stir well to coat. Then add the remaining ingredients: water, milk and condensed milk. Keep stirring until it comes off the bottom of the pan.

Tip: how to know the cut point of the cocada? One of the best ways is to compare the point to that of a brigadeiro: when it starts to get firm and comes off the bottom of the pan, it means it's ready!

Pour the condensed milk coconut onto a buttered baking tray, spread quickly and let it cool outside the refrigerator until firm (this process will be faster if the room temperature is cool and dry). Then just cut it to the size you want!

Tip: remember that this candy, even being a cut candy, has a creamy consistency so it won't be as firm as the candies they sell in packets.

What is the shelf life of the creamy cocada?

The coconut candy recipe we teach you how to prepare above is a homemade condensed milk candy, so it does not contain preservatives or other additives that prolong its shelf life. Once ready, the creamy coconut candy lasts up to 5 days. Ideally, it should be stored in tightly closed jars or wrapped in plastic-film, we do not recommend freezing as this would change the creamy consistency.
